Description: On August 19th, 1942 Canadian and British forces launched an attack on the German Naval headquaters in Dieppe, Northern France. The raid was a disaster but lessons were learnt that helped the Allies in their planning for D-Day 2 years later.nnOn August 19th, 2012, a Spitfire Mark 5b from the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flew a short display over Dieppe to commemorate the raid. Remarkably the Spitfire had actually flown 4 sorties during the raid, shooting down a German bomber.nnWe join
